I got my new camera bag today, a Lowepro Nova 5...and it's not big enough for all my gear! After some tinkering and some compromises I managed to stuff it all in though, excluding the Electro35. I won't be breaking any speed records trying to get my cameras out and ready, but at least I can finally stow everything in one bag. Until I get more lenses.

So I'm on a break from working. I have a new blog. It's empty. What to do?
post nonsense of course!

No photography minded site is complete without the post about the gear, right? wrong! gear doesn't matter! (well, it does...but it's not the penultimate ingredient, is it?)

But just for the sake of it, whatever "it" may be, here's a little post about the stuff I shoot with.
And for those interested, a mini review accompanying it!

- Nikon F2 Photomic
This old brick is my dad's, actually, although I now unofficialy claim it as my own. The first SLR I used, and it just might be the last one I use, seeing that it'll probably outlast any other camera I have/will get in the future. Magnificent camera all around, I have to agree with what most people say: The F2 is quite possibly the best mechanical SLR ever made.

- Nikon D100
One of the earlier Nikon digital cameras, I got this one (second-hand) at a relatively cheap price including the MB-D100 battery grip and a couple other extras. I'm still getting ot grips with digital results, don't know if I ever will get used to it, but as far as I can tell, the D100 is a great little dSLR. The only constant problem I'm having at the moment with mine is a dirty CCD sensor...it's killing me!

- Yashica Electro35
This is an old rangefinder from the 60s I picked up on eBay a couple of years back. I've only actually shot like 2 rolls of film with it, seeing that I haven't found an appropriate battery to use it with, (the original batteries it used are no longer produced) but from what results I have received, this little gem delivers outstanding photos.

I have always been interested in medium format photography, but a Hassy or Mamiya are way out of my league. Late last year I found out that a good alternative were TLRs (Twin Lens Reflex), and the Yashica in particular. So in December I bought mine, and after a few semi-failed experiments, I finally acheived moderate success...what's more, experimenting with slide film on this baby has me hooked on slides. Now if only I could actually scan them...

Alright.
For my maiden photoblog entry:

Anyone who's taken most of the tramlines going through Rotterdam Central Station (until recently, that is) has seen this odd little...display. A red BMW coupe half extruding from a roof parking lot...always have I wanted to take some photos at this locaiton, but not until today have I actually gone and walked myself out there to do it. added bonus: fisheye makes it all extra funny!

ps. the nasty little bits around the car I added in photoshop...to hike up the corny rating. I am without shame.

Around half an hour before I took that shot I was walking along Rotterdam's very own Walk of Fame. Found amongst the prints two of my favourite artists.

Taking cue from Collin's new photoblog, I'm inspired to pick up on a similar idea I had a while ago but never got to actually pulling off.

So the plan is...theoretically...to post photos each day.
In addition to that general concept, the photos I post here will all be taken using a fisheye lens. The reason for this? A fisheye makes everything look interesting! Maybe not, but another reason is that I haven't found any actual "photography" use for my lens and have had to resort to lomography-esque random hipshots. So I thought I might as well take a fisheye a day and see what happens.

As any of you who have ever been to a Kevin Oei blog, you know I always start the same way and peter out after a month or two (if it even goes that far), and I ain't promising anything this time around, although I will state that with the recent aqcuisition of my D100 and even more recently, my Peleng 8mm fisheye lens, a snap a day should be a breeze.

Or so I thought.
